  1. Create Touch Points. It’s easy for follow up to feel like an intimidating, pushy, icky idea that somehow always slips to the bottom of the to-do list. Get away from this by thinking about your follow-ups in terms of touch points. What do I know about this person’s specific values, pains, and needs that can form the basis for a meaningful and well-received conversation?
  2. Avoid Making Assumptions. One of the easiest traps to fall into is making assumptions about why the other person would not be interested in what you are offering out of fear. Don’t let yourself go there! Remember that you are part of a great company and a great profession. Be true to the relationship you have built, and don’t deprive someone of hearing about something that could positively benefit their life!
  3. Get To The Heart. “How can I connect with this person on a heart level?” “How can I offer them something that is meaningful?”  If you can drop your agenda and get inside of the other person’s needs, they are almost certain to value hearing from you. By taking the time to speak directly into their values, you are showing that you have their best interest in mind.
  4. Look At What’s In It For Them. If your intention is to SERVE, you will have all sorts of ways to follow up and it won’t be scary. By getting into the other person’s life through asking great questions, you will be able to gauge if they have a need for your product or opportunity. If you share from a genuine desire to serve, your chances of success are far greater and even if they are not interested, you haven’t burned the relationship.
  5. Get A System In Place. Follow-up is one of the first habits to fall by the wayside when we get overwhelmed, and yet it is one of the most critical habits to success in building your business. The best way to avoid that fate is to get a system that keeps you on track and makes it easy for you to build more and stronger relationships. I have an app that keeps me on track, and I’d love to share it with you!
